World Ready

Washington state is rich in marine resources and maritime careers. Core Plus Maritime helps students prepare for career paths that literally span the globe and connects K-12 classrooms to industry.

Student Welding Competition

We’re launching our first-ever Student Competition in Marine Welding at Vigor Marine (Seattle) on Saturday, May 16!   Show your support for next-gen welders through sponsorships and/or judging!

BECOME A SPONSOR: Get your logo on event materials, recognition at the award ceremony and in outreach.  Elected officials and news outlets will be invited.  Financial support helps cover event food/materials, maybe even staff time and prizes/swag depending on amount.

JUDGE STUDENTS’ PROFESSIONAL PRESENTATION: Our goal is 5-6 interviewers to interview and score 5-6 students each over a 3-4hr time period; likely between 10am – 2pm.  You’ll get to have lunch and see award ceremony!

FIND JOB CANDIDATES.  Hiring?  Have a table display with information and connect with some wonderful soon-to-be-graduates and their teachers!  Students will hang here after welding and before awards around 12pm-2pm.

MORE INFORMATION AVAILABLE SOON!

SPECIAL THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS!

2024 – 2025 Yearbook

See what’s happening on the ground in our 2024 – 2025 school year in the Core Plus Maritime yearbook, available HERE! This program is great because of all of our wonderful educators, school leaders, and industry partners.

Hope to see you all engaged this school year!

PROFESSIONALISM AND LIFELONG LEARNING

Students learn skills in safety, tool, and equipment use along with employability skills and professionalism.  Graduates earn certificates based on employer hiring requirements.

Understanding maritime opens a world of opportunities in high-demand, high-wage careers. Graduation is not the end of education – it’s just the beginning.  Check out graduate Lucky’s video from sea here.

A TRADITIONAL FUTURE

Honoring the land and water we live on, CP Maritime curriculum includes Washington state geography and history so students can understand and appreciate our natural resources and communities who have flourished here for thousands of years. Maritime is here to stay and employers need to hire! Companies are hoping Core Plus students make it to their door step. Check out the employer guide for details on these employers.

RIVER RATS AND DIESEL CATS

Students learn skills through industrial-grade platforms! American Seafoods donated two diesel CAT engines, two 26-person life rafts and 60 survival suits to Core Plus Maritime programs. One CAT went to New Market Skill Center and one CAT went to Sno-Isle Skill Center. Half of the safety training gear made it to Neah Bay High School via FV Alyeska, the other half is for training events.

Wooldridge Boats provides aluminum hull boat kits, River Rats, at a reduced cost for Core Plus Maritime instructors. Four of our maritime locations are currently welding River Rats.

Core Plus Maritime sites build boats that best suit their community needs. Most work with metals, some with woods, a couple with composites.

TOOLS THAT TRAVEL

Students learn skills and tools they can take anywhere! Mobility is important because you never know where maritime work can lead. No day is the same in maritime, and many careers depend on tools that can be taken in and out of spaces quickly and safely.
